I am a firm believer that God puts us where he wants us to be. Case in point, I had just finished work at the mill approximately an hour ago. I had planned on coming straight home but at the very last second, I decided to pull into a business to tell a story to one of my friends. While I was there, a vehicle pulled up next to mine. It looked like it had about as many dogs in it as mine does quite often! LOL! Come to find out, the lady who got out of the vehicle is Sherry Arney who is the owner of Leoti's Silent Angels which is a non-profit rescue and shelter for not only dogs and cats, but as I found out today, they also take care of all kinds of farm animals. Silent Angels is proud to be a No-Kill Shelter that was established in 2002.
It takes a huge amount of money to feed and take care of the many needy animals that come in and out of the rescue which is located just to the west of Leoti. Sadly, Mrs. Arney has decided that she needs to get out of taking care of the larger dogs. They require a great deal of food, etc. Right now, she is down to just 10 big dogs, 2 small dogs and 60 cats.
Just recently, Mrs. Arney and her Board of Directors have decided to open their refuge up to the many animals that are displaced when tornadoes, hurricanes and other natural disasters strike. Until now, I had never really thought too much about those animals... I won't forget about them again.
