The Fourth of July

Before I go into any details, know that I LOVE and am VERY proud of these good ol' states here. That is why I become angered when I hear of our citizens talking down about the U.S. It is also why we fly our stars and stripes outside 365 days a year.

But.......even though I appreciate our country and would never want to live anywhere else fulltime, I dread the 4th of July every year. Doesn't make any sense that a person who loves and respects their country would not also appreciate it's birthday, huh? Here is my explanation. I hate listening to all of the bombs and firecrackers. I worry about the prospect of people being hurt by them. I worry that fires will be flared..... Even just the picnics that go along with that holiday turn me way off. Maybe if we were in a location other than the hot state of Kansas, I would enjoy them more.

As I watched the noon edition of the CBS news, I heard that Salina, Kansas will be allowing fireworks there this year for the first time in DECADES. They have some strict laws that I really liked and would like to see implemented in Leoti. The ONLY times that it is lawful to fire off any fireworks is from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on the 3rd and 4th. Now that would be something that I would find appealing. I tend to think that a lot of dogs, cats and other animals would like that a lot better, too. LOL!!! Unfortunately, my thoughts are probably only what the minority of us would like so I guess that I better just get used to going with the flow...
