Lupe A. Hernandez Jr., age 57, died Sunday, November 20, 2011, following a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born September 30, 1954, the son of Guadalupe, Sr. and Theresa Araiza Hernandez in LaJunta, Colorado. A 1973 graduate of Garden City High School, he worked for the City of Garden City Street Department, and had served in the National Guard.
Lupe was a member of the Catholic Faith. His hobbies included following the Denver Broncos, working with model cars and studying the Native American Culture.
Survivors include: Three Daughters, Stella Hernandez, Tiffany Hernandez, and Sara Hernandez, all of the home; Four Sons, Miguel Ibarra of Pueblo, Colorado, Gabino Ibarra of California, Bernie Hernandez of Dodge City, Kansas, and Leonard Hernandez of Chanute, Kansas; Four Sister, Lupe Hernandez of Buffalo, New York, Eppy Barella of Pueblo, Colorado, Lillian Hernandez of Pueblo, Colorado and Ruth Unruh of Andrews, Texas; and 1 Grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond & Johnny Hernandez, and one sister, Flora Garcia.
Memorial Service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas.
There is no public visitation.
Memorials may be given to the Lupe Hernandez Memorial Fund in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home.
