Van L. Buckner--Scott City

(March 13, 1935 - November 6, 2011)

Van L. Buckner, age 76, passed away at his home in Scott County, Kansas on Sunday, November 6, 2011. He was born on March 13, 1935 in Savanna, Oklahoma, the son of Marion Adolph & Elsia Oriella Spears Buckner. He graduated from Savanna High School in 1953 and moved to Scott City, Kansas where he worked for Pete Hutchins & Sonny Jones. He was a farmer & cattleman and enjoyed watching sports on TV.

He was a member of the Gospel Fellowship Church in Shallow Water, Kansas.

On July 7, 1954 he married Lois E. Bullard in Raton, New Mexico. She survives.

Survivors include his Wife - Lois Buckner of Scott City, Kansas, One Daughter - Vickie Keller of Garden City, Kansas, One Son - Van A. & Cozette Buckner of Scott City, Kansas, One Sister - Laura & Truitt Sewell of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Three Brothers - Max & LaRue Buckner of Mustang, Oklahoma, Delmar & Frances Buckner of Bethany, Oklahoma, Reedis Buckner of Savanna, Oklahoma, Thirteen Grandchildren and Five Great Grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his Parents, Two Daughters – Susan Heim & Carolyn Johnson, Two Sisters and Four Brothers.

Funeral Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Scott City, Kansas at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2011 with Larry Taylor & Don Williams presiding.

Interment will be held at the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.

Memorials may be given to the Van L. Buckner Memorial Fund % Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday @ Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.
