A month or so ago, I got to meet, via the internet, a man whom I will refer to as "Intense Guy". I was able to direct him to a couple of ladies who live in Leoti. It just so happens that he had access to a lost picture of one of their dear ancestors. He wanted to make sure that the picture got back to the family. He succeeded!!!
Today, he sent me a website that people can go to to search for their loved ones' pictures. Here it is: http://www.forgottenoldphotos.blogspot.com/2011/02/full-circle-20.html . Once there, you will find the found photograph that includes D and M of Leoti. It is a great picture and one that I am sure the family will embrace in their hearts forever. If you prefer to just look around for your lost photos, go to http://www.forgottenoldphotos.blogspot.com .
I sooo appreciate the goodness that this blog provides to the families who find their lost photographs there!!!
You may want to go to this website and take a look around. you never know. One of your family's photos might be waiting for you to claim and bring home!
Thank you, I.G.!!!

Awww - you are making me blush. :) I enjoy doing the research and looking for family members. This particular photo brought extra dividends - I feel like I am living in lovely small town in Kansas - far from the rushing, rude mob here on the northeast coast - and found a new friend.
ReplyDeleteI.G., I so enjoy hearing from you!!!
ReplyDeleteGiven the fact that I was blessed with a very tightly knit family, I recognize the fact that it is important that we have as many pictures, etc of the ones we love. It is just wonderful that you do so much for bringing the old and the new members of families together again.
And as far as you and I being friends, I TOTALLY agree with you! We have developed quite a great connection!!!
I wouldn't last 24 hours living in a bustling city. LOL! For me, I belong in these small towns where we all basically know one another and are here to help one another through tough times and to celebrate the good times with one another. I invite you to come out here anytime! I think that you would be quite positively impressed by the people of Western Kansas! Not too long ago, I heard from a person who was just travelling through Western Kansas. She had stopped to buy gas for her car in Leoti. She told me that she was shocked to see how "modern" our part of the state was. This person was under the mistaken belief that we were still living in the "olden days" so to speak. Another customer told her that here in Western Kansas, we actually have airports, buses, trains, etc for transportation--not covered wagons. LOL!!! We all got a kick out of our conversation. But, for people who are interested in seeing a wagon train, every summer, the Butterfield Trail which is in the county just to the north of us, is filled with bunches of covered wagons, men on horseback, etc. People dress just as they did back when it was common to see covered wagons. Eventually, the wagons end up in a tiny town named Russell Springs, Kansas. A rodeo and dance are held there while members of the trail ride set up camp and spend a night or two.
