Good news! As I reported earlier, Stan and I began reflooring our master bedroom on Saturday morning. He had patched a few spots the Saturday before. This past weekend, we put a whole new floor over the top of the original floor. After that, we laid laminate over everything. It seemed like we worked non-stop for those two days. LOL! But in actuality, we managed to stop long enough to sleep Saturday night and to eat a few meals. The results are BEAUTIFUL!
Along the way, we had a few downs. The laminate flooring which was supoosed to be delivered here along with construction materials, never arrived. Friends had gone to Garden City and offered very generously to bring home everything for us. Somehow, only the construction supplies were sent. That was fine. That way, we were able to put most of the new flooring down before we had to go to GC to pick up the laminate.
Yesterday morning, one of my fingers was crushed between wood. It is much better today. No blood was spilled, no bones broken and the feeling is coming back into it. A small bruise is all that remains. Unfortunately, Stan RAN A SCREW THROUGH HIS FINGER!!! It was A-W-F-U-L!!! He lost a good amount of blood but refused to go to the hospital. I thought that he should get stitches but he said that there was nothing to stitch back together. Fortunately, his tetanus shot was still active. Eventually, the bleeding stopped and he returned to work on the floor again. Such a trooper, he is!
We were supposed to be hosts at the Star Theatre last night. Shortly after lunch, we realized that there was no way that we would have the floor finished, furniture moved back in, bed made, etc by 6:30 when we needed to leave for Tribune. Fortunately, we were able to find some substitutes to take our place. Thank you, D and J!!! As it turned out, we finally had the bedroom put back together enough that we could sleep in there at 9:30. The room is not completely back together yet. I still have to return our B-I-G Asparagus Fern and do some of my notorious decorating. Anyway, we LOVE the floor and are enjoying the lack of weak spots that we had had earlier! We were also very fortunate and ended up with a considerable surplus of laminate and underlayment. We'll be using it soon on the girls' bedroom floor. It is in great shape but we just want to have the laminate in there also.
