was yesterday afternoon at 2:30. The public was invited to attend this event and pay homage to the students who went above and beyond to to be as successful as possible.
Our daughter, Leighlyn, is a 7th grader this year. Because we were sure that she would be winning awards, Stan got up at 2:00 a.m. yesterday morning to go to work. He wanted to make sure that he did his job and delivered as much feed as possible but would be off in time to go to the assembly. My mother, Donna Lou E. Elder, went with us as did our daughter, Abigayle.
I did not have any idea how many awards Leighlyn would be given so when Leighlyn was called up on stage to receive them, I cried as one award after another was bestowed to our little girl. She won awards for vocal music, instrumental music, quiz bowl, track, literature... She also received her first "W" to store all of her pins on. The W stands for Wichita County.
It was wonderful to see how many awards many of the 7th and 8th grade students deserved! Wichita County absolutely has one of the very best school systems around. Our school is like that because of our fine educators and school staff and the parents and other mentors who care to support our children in whatever endeavors that they pursue. I want to thank all of our teachers for giving their all to make our children so successful!!!
