As you know, the big move from RBSES to the brand new Wichita County Elementary School was to have taken 3 days. Well, I spoke with a teacher yesterday and she thought that everything would be in the new school by yesterday evening. Isn't it great when things move along quicker than expected??? Now, the teachers will have to unload their boxes, etc and prepare the rooms for the 2011-2012 school year.
I just want to thank all of the people who came together to make this all possible. Citizens and businesses provided a lot of the so-very-necessary cardboard boxes, plastic and metal milk crates, etc. Friends and family helped many of the teachers begin to lug over many boxes of supplies, etc starting last week. Various people donated trailers and horse trailers to haul furniture, etc on.
And, finally, the teachers deserve to be praised quite highly. These people practically spent every waking hour at the school for the last couple of weeks getting everything packed up and ready to go. As time neared for the move, many teachers took time out to go through supplies and see what they no longer needed. They either gave them to other teachers or tossed them out. There was no need in packing them up and taking them to the new school if no one had any use for them anymore. Most of us may think that teachers only have school books. But as the daughter of a teacher who has taught now for over 50 years, I can tell you that they have MUCH more than just books. A lot more goes into being a great teacher like Wichita County Schools are famous for!!! So all of the teachers knew that this move was not going to be easy. I am just glad that the moving was done before all of this wind came up so violently.
Again, thank you to all of you who made this move to the beautiful school possible!!!!!!!!!!
