Stan's Weekend

Stan ended up having to work Saturday morning. That afternoon, he tackled the last bit of work that was still left over after we replaced the floor in the main bathroom almost 2 months ago.

Before he could replace the floor that was on its way to destruction due to a water leak underneath the floor and water faucet to the soaking tub, we had to remove all of the fixtures, etc. Stan spent a week putting in the new subfloor, the Allure and finally putting the fixtures back into place. As per usual, we did not allow for enough time to get everything finished. For the past couple of months, we have been able to see underneath the tub. Now, for some folks, that may be no big deal. For me, that was something that I could not live with for very long. LOL!

So for awhile yesterday afternoon and for most of today, Stan worked on getting everything closed up. The tile backerboard is now in place and is just waiting for Stan to hang the porcelain tile on it. Stan also had to cut some of the marble so that it would fit right into place. That was a lot of fun! It has now been glued into place. Stan plans on hanging the tile some evening this week. Then...everything in that bathroom will be completed. That is a great feeling for all of us!!!

Don't get the idea that that means we can just enjoy the summer. Oh, no! We still have some projects that will need to be completed this summer. Stan has wanted to revamp the master bathroom ever since we bought our house in 1998. We will finally finish it this year! That will be quite a project. Everything will be taken out of the room. As soon as Stan replaces the floor in there, he will build a shower stall out of some beautiful ceramic tiles that we purchased for just $20.00 at the flea market in Colorado Springs in April. We will no longer have a bathtub in there. The only thing that will be coming back into the room, will be the stool. The avocado sink and it's vanity have definitely seen better days--many years ago. They need to be replaced.

There is still more shingling that needs to be done. After that, we can afford to just sit down and RELAX!!!

I will definitely keep you updated as we do these projects.
