I am one of many people who have enjoyed driving through Leoti and seeing all of the beautiful trees that have just been planted in the last month or so. I hope that many more will be planted this year. If you are one or will be one who will be planting trees, remember to keep plenty but not too much water on your trees until they are able to rely on groundwater and what God sends to them directly. If you are in the market for purchasing new trees, please ask for advice from the landscapers who work in the stores, etc. If they are unable to help you very much, look that particular tree species up on the internet for all of the growing details out there.
Whenever we have planted trees, we have remembered such small things such as making sure that the hole that we dig is deep enough. We also fill the hole with water before we place the tree into the hole. Before we put the tree into the hole, "tickle" its roots. What does that mean??? It just means that you need to use your fingers to carefully unwind the bottoms of the plant's roots before planting. By doing this, your plants stand a better chance of survival and can go right to work growing. You also need to tickle the roots on other plants before you plant them. After that, make sure that the plant is standing erect. You do not want it any other way or else it will grow that way. Some trees may require ropes to keep it erect. It is best to get advice from your local plant companies when it comes to that and purchasing fertilizers, spikes, etc.
