Gunky Dishes?

In July, we purchased all new kitchen appliances.  None of them were cheap but we still ended up with many problems with our dishwasher.  You probably recall that.  Anyway, the machine was eventually fixed.  As time has gone by though, our dishes were not always coming out clean.  Many of them were covered with a milky haze.  Of course, none of this was okay with any of us.  I scrubbed and scrubbed each dish until the shine reappeared.

I purchased a product made for automatic dishwashers to clean out calcium and lime deposits.  After running it through the machine, it was better but still not as good as I wanted.  Then I remembered what someone from an appliance dealership had once told me.  She told me to put 4 tablespoons of Tang orange breakfast drink POWDER or an equivalent of it into the dispenser for dishwasher detergent in an EMPTY dishwasher.  Close the lid.  As what should be done before starting a dishwasher, run water in the kitchen sink until it is very hot.  Turn the machine to the NORMAL dishwashing cycle.  Turn it on.

I don't know how this works to remove the unwanted nasties from dishwashers.  I do know that this worked in our machine.  You might want to give this a try.  I imagine that this would possibly work in washing machines just to remove the same minerals to keep them from building up.
