Veterans Day Parade in Leoti

So many of our local people have been involved in keeping our beloved country free for MANY years.  Some never made it home.  Some of our local veterans were held in prison camps. All who came home, came home with their lives forever changed.

Monday, November 12th, is the officials Veterans Day across the nation.  Here in Leoti, a parade is planned that will begin at the corner north of Dollar General and come to a close in front of the courthouse.  It will begin at 10:00 a.m.  Wichita County students will be performing and thanking our local heroes in front of the cannon located on the northeast corner of the courthouse lawn.  Everyone is encouraged to come out and thank the men and women who have kept our country free.

On a personal note, my paternal grandparents, Roy and Helen Elder, had six sons.  All six of them volunteered to be in the armed forces.  They include Buck, Red, Frank, Dick, Lewis and my father, Pat.  Most of their six daughters stayed at home and did their service also for the country that they loved so very much.
