The annual spelling bee for Wichita County is scheduled for Wednesday, February 9th, in the RBSES gym. The bee begins at 1:30 CST. The selected participants are from 3rd through 12th grades. Two students from each classroom for a total of four students from each grade are chosen to represent their individual classrooms. The winner of the county's bee will go on to represent their school at the state spelling bee. The state's winner will then be sent to represent Kansas at the national spelling bee later this year.
On a personal note, this will be Leighlyn's 5th consecutive year to represent her class.
