Did you know that you can bake BREAD in crockpots???

Well, you can!!!

Here is a recipe for whole wheat bread that you can try!

This recipe will make 8 servings.

2 cups warm reconstituted powdered milk (Read NOTE)

2 tablespoons vegetable or canola oil

1/4 cup honey OR brown sugar

3/4 teaspoon salt

1 package or 4 teaspoons of yeast

2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

NOTE: People use powdered milk because it is convenient and can be used anytime. For this recipe, you need to use warm water with the powdered milk. The temperature of the water should be the same as what a baby would drink his/her baby formula. In other words, not too hot nor too cold. If the temperature is too warm, the yeast will die. If it is too cold, the yeast will not activate like it should.

In a large bowl, combine the milk (not powder), oil, honey or brown sugar, salt, yeast and half of the flours. Beat with an electric mixer for 2 minutes. Slowly add the rest of the flours. Mix well.

Grease a bread or cake pan that will fit into your crockpot. Cover the pan with greased tin (aluminum) foil. Let it stand for 5 minutes. Place it in the crockpot.

Cover with the pot's lid and bake on HIGH for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Remove the pan from the crockpot. Remove the foil. Allow to stand for at least 5 minutes before you slice it. Serve warm.
