Apple Butter, Anyone???

I remember growing up and my Nonny making homemade apple butter. Since then, it doesn't seem like as many people are making this. I suppose that it has something to do with the fact that so many women are having to leave home to work nowadays. Here is an easy recipe where the handy dandy crockpot does the majority of the work. Maybe it is something that will work for you. You might even want to make extra apple butter that you can share with family and friends for Christmas!!! Hint! Hint! Mel's just happens to have apples on sale right now!!!!!

This recipe makes 2 pints. You may want to adjust it to make more if you want to give some of this for Christmas or to can and save for your future usage.

4 pounds apples (any kind)

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon cloves

Peel, core and slice up the apples. Place in to the crockpot. Cover. Cook on HIGH for 2-3 hours. Reduce heat to LOW and cook for another 8 hours. You'll know that they are fully cooked once they turn a medium brown.

Stir in the cinnamon and cloves. Cook on HIGH for 2-3 hours with the lid off of the pot. Stir until nice and smooth.

Pour the butter into freezer containers and freeze or into STERILIZED jars and seal. Don' forget to leave some out for NOW!
