Chili Peanuts in a Crockpot

Do you remember the days when you could walk into a drug store and purchase some hot nuts? I do. Two such drug stores that I remember were Reifschneider Drug in Leoti and the drug store in Tribune. Somehow those nuts of all different kinds tasted better when they were nice and hot! I don't know why businesses quit selling hot nuts but I assume that for most of us anyway, they are a thing of the past. Here is a recipe that I found that would be like those nuts only these will have a bit of a punch too!

This recipe will make 5 cups and would be great for sports get-togethers, holidays, parties, etc.

1/4 cup MELTED butter or margarine

2 12-ounce cans of cocktail peanuts

1 5/8 ounce package of chili seasoning (mild, regular or hot)

Put the peanuts into your crockpot. Pour the melted butter over them. Stir the best that you can, trying to get each peanut possible sprinkled with the butter. Now, sprinkle that chili seasoning over all of them. Stir well. Cover.

Heat on LOW for 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Turn to HIGH, remove the lid and cook for 10-15 minutes.

You can choose to serve these warm or cool. If you want them to remain warm, change your temperature dial to WARM.
