Victor (Vic) Frank Graff--Leoti

(October 4, 1922 - June 9, 2011)


Victor “ Vic “ Frank Graff, age 88, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Wichita County Long Term Care in Leoti, Kansas. Vic was born October 4, 1922 in Rush County, Kansas, the son of John & Josephine Werth Graff. A lifetime resident of Marienthal, Kansas, he was a farmer and stockman. Vic served his country during World War Two as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corp. He was involved in the invasion of Okinawa, later his platoon was stationed in China, preparing to invade Japan, when the Japanese surrendered. Vic was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Marienthal, Kansas where he served on the Church committee and the Diocesan Finance committee. He also served as a fourth degree Knights of Columbus, V.F.W., Wichita County Soil Conservation, Scott CO-OP board of directors and was elected as a Wichita County Commissioner. On November 29, 1950 he married Roberta Ilene Hutchins at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marienthal, Kansas. Vic’s surviving family includes Wife- Roberta “ Bobbie “ Graff- Marienthal, Kansas Two sons- Greg & Kathy Graff- Marienthal, Kansas Gary & Sherry Graff- Marienthal, Kansas Three daughters- Vicki Myers- Kansas City, Kansas Barbara & Earl Roemer- Healy, Kansas Peggy Graff & Jon Wright- Fort Collins, Colorado One brother- Theodore Graff- Marienthal, Kansas Four sisters- Armena Palkowitsch- Lilburn, Georgia Henrietta Baker- Marienthal, Kansas Thelma DeWitt- Tavares, Florida Bernita George- Carthage, Missouri Nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren. His parents, two brothers, Marcellus Graff and Justin Graff, two sisters, Delphine Schmidt and Pauline Schiffelbein, four infant brothers and sisters and a granddaughter, Aubrey Roemer, preceded him in death. Vigil services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marienthal, Kansas. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marienthal, Kansas with Father Benjamin Martin officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery with full military honors provided by the United States Marine Corp Funeral Detail. Friends may call from noon to 8:00 p.m. Saturday and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas. Memorials may be given to St. Mary Catholic Church, Wichita County Amusement Assn. or Wichita County Long Term Care in care of the funeral home.
