Tribune's Chatterbox

Several years ago, a few Tribune residents built a building on Highway 96 to house a restaurant that serves primarily American food. It has been quite popular with area residents and people from connecting counties, etc.

Yesterday, while we were there for lunch, we ordered a shrimp dinner, 2 chicken fry dinners and a chef salad. Each of the dinners included lovely salads that included lettuce, purple cabbage, cucumbers, radishes, tomatoes, etc. The chef salad had all of that plus sliced boiled eggs and lots of diced ham.

We requested that the gravy that would be used with our homemade mashed potatoes be used to smother our hand-formed chicken fries. It was DELICIOUS!!! A large slice of texas toast comes with each dinner. It is grilled on each side to perfection.

So, for $7.00, you get a large chicken fry, mashed potatoes and gravy, texas toast and a very generous bowl of salad. Wow! That is one great deal!

While we were there, we picked up information that I could relay on to you.

Right now, they are open all evenings for wheat harvest. But, normally, they are closed every Monday. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, they are open from 7-2:00. They are open from 8-2:00 on Sundays. You can enjoy your evening meal at the Chatterbox on Wednesdays when they are open rom 5-8:00. Now, remember that all of these times are Mountain Standard Time.

If you want more information or wish to make a to-go order, call them at 620-376-2888.

Enjoy!!!
