I reported last night that our much loved and appreciated Dr. Alpert is currently donating his time and multitude of medical expertise in Haiti. A reader gave me the following website where you can actually see him in action. The website is hearttoheart.org Remember that there are NO spaces between words.
On the first page you will find two men carrying boxes of medical supplies. The man in the front is Dr. Jeffrey Alpert of Leoti.
On the afternoon of Tuesday, January 12th, 2010, a magnituds 7.0 earthquake hit in Port-au-Prince, the capital in Haiti. More than 100,000 people are expected to lose their lives as a result. This Caribbean island is absolutely one of the poorest countries in the Western hemisphere. Because of the fact that there is very little money to spend on medical facilities, etc., Heart to Heart Organization has stepped up and has brung the much needed health care to the Haitians for over 10 years. Right now, the people with major injuries are being served first. Unfortunately, there is simply not enough manpower to help with the minorly injured people at this time.
Medicines, supplies, etc. cost a large amount of money. If you are willing to make ANY donation, please go to this website and follow the instructions. There is also much more information there that you can read to be more informed.
A footnote...Dr. Alpert just got married and became a father in the exact same moment! It is so kind of him to put his personal life on hold so that he can help these people whom he has never met before!
