Edith L. Yoakum--Scott City

(April 22, 1921 - March 26, 2011)

Edith L. Yoakum, 89, of Scott City died Saturday, March 26, 2011. Edith has been a resident of the community since 1947.

She was born April 22, 1921 in Kidder, MO to John and Mertie (Eckelberry) Bryan. Edith graduated Hamilton High School, Hamilton, MO in 1939 and Pratt-Guard Business College, St. Joseph, MO in 1940. She married Harold M. Yoakum on July 4, 1941 in Kingston, MO.

Edith and Harold moved to Scott City and enjoyed a lifetime of friendships in the community. The family wants to express gratitude to Les and Mary Ann Spangler and Edith’s many friends for all their special attention in recent years.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, only brother Ralph Bryan, and husband Harold who died March 20, 1998. Surviving are her daughter Marsha Lee and husband Emil Pacetti of Kenosha, WI, son John H. Yoakum and wife Cynthia (Colby) Yoakum and grandsons Graham C. Yoakum and Ryan N. Yoakum all of Cary, NC.


Graveside Services will be held at the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011 with the Rev. Kyle Evans of the First Baptist Church in Scott City, Kansas presiding.

Interment wil be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.

Memorials in Lieu of flower may be given to the Scott County EMT’s % Price & Sons Funeral Home

Visitation will be at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Thursday.
