Caramel Pie

1/2 cup white sugar

1 cup milk

2 heaping tablespoons of flour

1/2 cup boiling water

1 cup brown sugar

2 egg yolks (beaten)

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 tablespoons butter

Meringue ingredients

2 egg whites

1 tablespoon COLD water

1 tablespoon sugar

In a skillet or saucepan, caramelize sugar.

Add boiling water until sugar is dissolved. Add milk and let boil.

Combine brown sugar, flour and beaten egg yolks. Add the caramelized mixture to this. Cook until tickened. Add vanilla and butter.

Pour into baked crust.

Make the meringue by beating the egg whites until fluffy. Add the cold water and sugar.

Spread the meringue over the pie and bake until golden brown.
