Cinnamon-y Christmas Ornaments

Interested in making your Christmas tree extra special this year? Have children or grandchildren who want to contribute their own craftiness? Then this is a great thing to try!!! These ornaments will be very spicy scented. They are also great to be used for lingerie drawers, coat closets, linen cabinets, etc.

For this project, you will need 16 ounces of store bought applesauce. (Homemade will be too watery.)

8 ounces or more ground cinnamon

1 ounce of either, allspice, nutmeg or cloves

decorative glitter for extra sparkle (optional)

Combine all ingredients and stir until very well mixed.

Lay out waxed paper. Wrap plastic wrap around a rolling pin.

Roll the dough out until it is 1/4" thick. Use Christmas cookie cutters to make individual ornaments. Once ornaments are cut out, use a toothpick, etc to put a hole in the top of each ornament where the ornament string or wire will be inserted after the ornament has dried.

Place ornaments onto a cookie sheet. Put in a 150 degree oven for 90 minutes. Pull tray out, turn each ornament over. Place back into the oven for 90 additional minutes.

These will be hard objects and can be used year after year.
