Gingerbread with the Works Cookie Bars

As you'll soon see this is a recipe that calls for a gingerbread mix. Of course, using the mix allows you not to have to purchase all of the individual ingredients to make it PLUS this recipe calls for ingredients not normally found in gingerbread. Enjoy!

This recipe makes 24 bars.

1 14-1/2-ounce package gingerbread mix
3/4 cup water
1 egg
1 7-ounce package tropical blend mixed dried fruit bits
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup sifted powdered sugar
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
3 to 4 teaspoons milk

Preheat oven to 350 degree F. Grease a 9" x 13" baking pan; set aside.

In a medium bowl, stir together gingerbread mix, the water, egg, fruit bits, and pecans. Spread batter in prepared baking pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack.

For glaze, in a small bowl stir together the powdered sugar and ginger; stir in enough of the milk to make a drizzling consistency. Drizzle glaze over gingerbread. Cut into bars.
