Avis L. Murphy--Scott City

(May 26, 1940 - December 5, 2010)

Avis L. Murphy, age 70, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at the St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas following a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born on May 26, 1940 in Lewis, Kansas, the daughter of George Francis and Jennie Lois Miller Robbins. A resident of Scott City, Kansas since 1967 moving from Emporia, Kansas, she was a secretary for Farm Bureau Insurance and owned and operated the Murphy Fireworks stand for 36 years.
She was a Farm Bureau County Coordinator, a member of the Farm Bureau, Kansas Antique Racers and the Colorado Vintage Oval Racers.

On April 4, 1959 she married Roland R. Murphy in Dodge City, Kansas. He survives.

Murphy of Scott City, Kansas, One Daughter - Ronda & Mel Brown of Haviland, Kansas, One Son K.B. & Camille Murphy of Sharon Springs, Kansas, Five Sisters - Barbara Robbins of Billings, Montana, Gayle & Hoyt Clay of Billings, Missouri, Jo & Delmar Schmidt of Garden City, Kansas, Sheryl Jean Davis of San Jose, California, Karyl & John Laney of Red Banks, Mississippi, Three Brothers - Rick Robbins of Dodge City, Kansas, Randy Robbins of San Jose, California, Wylie & Lorie Robbins of Eustis, Nebraska, One Brother in Law - Francis & Belinda Murphy of California, Seven Grandchildren - Cody Brown of Haviland, Kansas, Dustyn Brown of Wichita, Kansas, Hannah Brown of Haviland, Kansas, Kenli Murphy of Sharon Springs, Kansas, Kaitlyn Murphy of Sharon Springs, Kansas, Kadin Murphy of Sharon Springs, Kansas, Kolbey Murphy of Sharon Springs, Kansas and One Great Great Grandson - Brandon Brown of Haviland, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her Parents.

Funeral Services will be be at the First Baptist Church in Scott City, Kansas at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010 with the Rev. Robert Nuckolls presiding.

Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.

Memorials may be given to the Avis Murphy Memorial Farm Bureau Scholarship % of Price & Son Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.

Visitation wil be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
