Snowball cookies with a hidden treat in the middle

These cookies are some of those that adults and kids will get a real tickle out of! In the center of each cookie is the surprise treat of your choice! Possible treats would be candy-coated milk chocolate balls, M and Ms, chocolate-covered peanuts, gumdrops, gummy candies, jelly beans, raisins..... They get their name, snowballs, because of the powdered sugar coating. In case you are wanting to prepare these before your company arrives for Thanksgiving or Christmas or whenever, you can make and bake these 3 days before the event. Then store them in an airtight container until just before taking them out to serve. Advice from a mommy, be careful of the cookie's surprise if you will be serving these to young children. You sure don't want them to choke on this!

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray the cookie sheet with PAM or lightly grease it before placing cookies on it.

3/4 cup butter or margarine

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 egg

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1 3/4 cup flour

Powdered sugar

Beat the butter or margarine, granulated sugar and salt until fluffy.

Add the egg and vanilla. Beat until fluffy again.

Add your flour and stir until well-combined.

Shape into balls and place your secret treats in the center of each unbaked ball of cookie dough.

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Roll in powdered sugar while still warm. The powdered sugar will "hide" the treat.
