Washington-Ames House

I just received an email from Mrs. Karen Walk of Leoti who is the wonderful curator of Leoti's Museum of the Great Plains as well as the Historical Society's new project, the Washington-Ames House that the children of Mrs. Marge Ames-Taggert so graciously donated to the Historical Society almost one year ago. It included pictures of the parlor that has just now been completed from top to bottom.

I have asked my sister, Lori, to help me get them posted on the blog so that you, too, can see them for yourself. So many of you who no longer live in Wichita County have told me how interested you are in this antique house that has had a rich history and now has an equally rich future!

I also want to point out that in addition to the seemingly endless work that Karen and her husband, Curt, have done at the house, other people such as Don and Jeanene French have spent MANY hours there also.

Late in the Summer, Terry Haines and his crew replaced the W-A House's roof. It looks so nice now! Before that, several people gathered around to pull dead trees and bushes out of the yard that was necessary to really clean things up. Additional landscaping will be done in the future. Believe me! Karen is way more than just capable of pulling both, the interior and the exterior, of this Victorian charmer back together again!!!

It has been fun and heart-warming watching this Old Lady getting a new lease on life again!!! If you have not already taken a tour of this Victorian with a bright future ahead of her, drop by. Karen is always very happy to give tours!!!
