Wichita County Electronic Voting Machine

I was asked for more information on this. I found out that Leoti has had this machine since a few years ago. After the Florida vote mess, it was decided that every county in the nation had to have an automatic vote reader so that the voters did not have to be subjected to poor vote counting again. At that time, Wichita County suthorities decided to order this machine also.

It basically looks much like a computer printer and is always placed on a table at the west end of the voting booths. Anyone and everyone is allowed to use it. You do NOT have to have permission to do so.

This machine is particularly useful to people with disabilities. The voter uses their fingers to push the appropriate space for whatever candidates or issues that they want. There are no buttons--just a touch screen.

It is seldomly used but is always there for people who do want to use it. The only complaint about it is that some people find it to be a slower method of voting than the way that we usually vote. Some people with various forms of disabilities make a regular practice of just mailing in their ballot.

I hope that this information has helped to answer any questions that you might have had.

Thank you!!!
