Dinner Rolls

I am going to post these ingredients PLUS the directions to either make this dough with the original instructions or to use the directions to make it in the bread machine. I personally use my bread machine on the DOUGH METHOD.

4 1/2 teaspoons yeast
1/2 cup warm water (110-115 degrees) same temp as baby bottle milk
1/2 cup warm water " " " " '' '' '' '' ''
6 tablespoons creamed shortening such as Crisco
2 eggs
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
7-7 1/2 all-purpose flour

Original bread-making directions:

In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm water. Add the warm milk, shortening, eggs, sugar, salt and 3 cups of the flour. Beat well until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.

Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic (stretchy, about 6-8 minutes. The dough will be sticky. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top also. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.

Punch dough down. Turn onto a lightly greased floured surface; divide into 24 pieces. Shape each piece into a roll. Place 2 inches apart on greased baking sheet or in a 9" x 13" pan. Cover with a towel or lid and allow to double, about 30 minutes.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Remove to wire racks. Yield 24 rolls.

Bread machine directions:

Place the warmed water and warmed milk into your bread machine's container. In a seperate bowl, mix the eggs. Dump into bread machine's pan. Add the flour followed by the sugar, salt, cut-up pieces of the shortening and the yeast. Turn the DOUGH button on.

Once the dough has doubled in the container, pull it out, break it into 24 pieces. Place these into your baking pans; cover and allow to rise until doubled in size. Bake as directed above in the original directions.
