Pheasant Season

Pheasant Season began this morning, November 13th, in the state of Kansas. It is legal to continue harvesting pheasants through the end of January. Legal time for hunting is one half hour before sunset until sundown. Kansas is absolutely one of the richest hunting areas anywhere. Pheasant season is important to the quality of life in the state and is an absolute necessity for the Kansas economy.

Youngsters up to the age of 16 who live in Kansas can hunt for absolutely no charge. People from 16 on up, pay $20.50 per year or they can purchase a hunting/fishing combination license for $38.50.

Non residents of the state of Kansas pay considerably more for their licenses. People under 16 pay $37.50. Non-resident adults can hunt for $72.50. Combination hunting/fishing licenses will cost each person $112.50.

The western one-third of Kansas, also known as the High Plains, is the largest and driest region in Kansas. Because of our natural shortgrass and agricultural properties, a large amount of ring-necked pheasants live here because the land is wide open and vast. Not all of Kansas fields are open to hunters. If a No Hunting sign is posted on that property show some respect and stay clear of it. If it is okay for you to hunt on that property, keep it just as clean as it was before you entered it. I would also like to urge any hunters to either eat their pheasants or iive or sell them to someone who will. It really hacks me for me to discover their dead bodies strewn on the roads, etc.

And always be extremely careful when you are hunting. Bullets are just as deadly to humans as they are to pheasants.
